General

What is temporary car insurance?

Temporary car insurance provides short-term motor cover from as little as 1 hour up to 30 days. It's a flexible alternative to annual policies, ideal for situations where you only need cover for a brief period.

Who can get temporary car insurance?

You must be aged between 17 and 75, hold a valid driving licence (UK, EU, or international), and have fewer than 10 penalty points on your licence. You must also be a UK resident.

How quickly can I get covered?

You can get covered in minutes. Simply enter the vehicle registration, choose your cover duration, provide your driver details, and pay online. Your insurance certificate is issued immediately after payment.

What type of cover do you offer?

We provide Third Party Only cover. This is the legal minimum required to drive on UK roads and protects you against liability for damage or injury to other people and their property. It does not cover damage to the insured vehicle itself, fire, or theft.

Pricing & Payment

How is my premium calculated?

Your premium is calculated based on several factors including the cover duration, your age, the vehicle's engine size, vehicle value, your claims history, and any penalty points. Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) at 12% is included in the quoted price.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All payments are processed securely through our encrypted payment system.

Can I get a refund?

If your cover has not yet started, you can cancel for a full refund by contacting us before the cover start time. Once cover has started, refunds are not available due to the short-term nature of the policy.

Your Policy

When does my cover start?

You choose your cover start date and time during the quote process. Cover must start at least 30 minutes after purchase to allow for processing.

How do I prove I'm insured?

You will receive an insurance certificate via email immediately after purchase. You can also download your certificate from your dashboard at any time. Your insurance details are also shared with the Motor Insurance Database (MID), which police can check electronically.

Can I extend my cover?

Yes. If your policy is still active or upcoming, you can extend it by up to 72 hours from your dashboard. The total policy duration cannot exceed 30 days. You can also purchase a new policy if you need cover beyond the extension limit.

Does temporary insurance affect my no-claims bonus?

No, temporary car insurance is a separate policy and does not affect the no-claims bonus on any annual policy you may hold.

Claims

What do I do if I have an accident?

Ensure everyone is safe, exchange details with other parties, take photographs, and contact us as soon as possible. Full details are on our claims page. Do not admit liability at the scene.

How long does a claim take?

We aim to acknowledge all claims within 2 business days and will assign a claims handler to your case. Settlement times vary depending on the complexity of the claim, but we work to resolve them as quickly as possible.
